When you're high-centered on a rock, the transfer case is often the first thing that makes contact. It's also the part that keeps your FJ in four-wheel drive, so a cracked case can leave you stuck with no way to crawl out. Ricochet's Transfer Case Skid Plate adds a thick aluminum barrier right where your FJ is most likely to bottom out, so you can keep pushing through the tough sections.
